There are plenty of negative experiences from people who have visited a Therme Spa. It seems like a very poorly run organization with a goal to only maximize profits. Here are some reviews from people who have actually visited the Therme Spa.
There are thousands of reviews of Therme and many people who visit a Therme Spa complain about similar issues
- Poor hygiene standards at Therme Spa
- Racist of discriminatory attitudes from Therme employees
- Stolen items from lockers with no recourse
- Feeling threatened by Therme security
- Forced to purchase new shoes to enter
- Over-crowded facilities that were unusable
- No photography policy
Despite the thousands of negative reviews on Therme, it seems this morally bankrupt corporation does what many corps do these days and purchase fake reviews from Google Local Guides as they have a 4.6 rating on 35,269 reviews. You have to really sort through the fakes to find the real reviews on Therme. I have done some homework and sorted through them, I also linked to the original Google reviewer.
Here are what people think after visiting one Therme’s World-Class spas…
Be prepared to purchase new shoes and swimsuit on entry
we were very disappointed with the staff . They tried to make us pay for new flipflops ,bathing suit and towels needless to say all our clothes were new.
It’s doesn’t make any sense how a health center doesn’t provide a basic service like towels .
We came with high expectations and got disappointed.( Drove 40 minutes and pay 140 lei on cabs for nothing )
This place is not tourist friendly ,Not recommended! Be aware!
Young women do not feel safe at Therme Spa in Europe
If you are a young woman and you are not planning to visit this place with your other half, avoid that place at all costs! I’ve been to this place twice – the first time was ok, no major issues, other than rude staff here and there. The second time was horrendous due to a complete lack of professionalism from multiple staff members. Not only the majority of staff at the slides are extremely rude, one of them started rolling his eyes, huffing and puffing once I said that I don’t speak Romanian. The cherry on top, was that same staff member (male), after blatantly staring at my breasts for an extended period of time later asked whether my breasts were natural! I don’t think that I need to explain how this made me feel for the rest of my visit at this place. I spoke with another staff member about this (female), who seemed to be mortified by this situation. She brought a male manager with her. I have explained this horrendous situation again, which in itself wasn’t a pleasant experience, and his reaction was even more disappointing than the situation itself (if that’s even possible)! He didn’t pretend that he wanted to be helpful or that he wanted to resolve the situation. The manager said that the guys working there are all young and that the reason they act the way they do is because they’re young and silly, after which he said that it’s difficult to find new staff and there’s nothing he can do. I said to him that there are women and young girls walking around in bikinis and that this person could inappropriately approach a younger girl. This behaviour is sexual harassment! I have received no response to that from the manager. It’s quite ironic that the manager would not take the responsibility for his staff’s actions, considering that they are technically responsible for their staff and the running of this place. Overall, this place has a great potential, but the general attitude from the staff, the lack of professionalism and the inacceptable approach are appalling. I feel physically sick when thinking about this place.
The kids were bored at Therme Spa
Honestly super underwhelmed. We have 2 young kids and it was so boring for them, that we left before our time ended, that we paid for.
The small kids water playground is an absolute joke, the water in the pools is WAY (!) too hot and the my 5y old could only do 2 slides, the rest he wasn’t allowed and he also wasn’t allowed to do it with his dad – the have some crazy weird rules there that don’t make any sense.
Also music BLASTING like you are in a club.
Hugely disappointing experience writes Bruce Westgate
Therme is a large water theme park with pretensions of being a spar and health resort. It’s got a lot a very nice facilities – totally ruined by officious, unhelpful staff and managed poorly. In order to enter you have to comply with unenforceable rules which force you to purchase additional clothes items – just to wear inside.
Once inside, you’re constantly monitored by a large force of security and various other staff who apply a host of other rules, dependent on whether I assume your face fits – arrogant and unhelpful.
You pay extra for a while range of the activities that appear to be included in the web site info – on your way out! So it’s very easy to spend extra money without being aware you’re doing so until you leave.
I left totally disenchanted after what could have been a pleasant afternoon was destroyed by the people who are supposed to be offering a service.
Don’t bother going, it’s really not worth the trip.
Bad service and not recommended
Very bad service and really expensive for what is offered, they charge extra for slippers and towels ,would not recommend it for tourists as it’s a rip-off …better avoid this place ☹️
Swimming at Therme caused itchy skin
So many complaints. Where should I start?
1. The most important one. My skin has been very itchy since I went to Therme a few days ago. I really hope it is related to some properties of the water and not some disease.2. And for sure the whole water slides experience is totally disorganised. Because of Covid (I guess), they left only a few floating tubes at the water slides. So you not only have to wait for hours at the queues to actually use the slides, but first wait for other customers to get bored and leave their water tubes so you can take them. And that takes a lot of your time. So good luck with that.
3. Be careful if you stay longer than what you paid for. I paid for 4 hours, stayed another half and when I arrived at the office they charged me for a whole hour because they considered I stayed 32 minutes instead of 30. So 30 minutes and 1 second is already considered 1 hour.
4. The whole place is very crowded and very noisy. Most of the noise is actually from the loud speakers playing ‘cocalar’ music. 😀
5. No place to swim if you would like to.
6. For summertime the water is not refreshing at all, but I guess that is to be expected. 😉
So yeah. Not recommended.
PS: Did I mention that the stuff is rude?
No photos allowed at Therme
I bought an evening ticket, 3 hours. First of all all the lockers were dirty, 2 times before I could get a clean one. The bar was great, but run out early of liquor, beer and wine was pretty warm. 21:30 they forced you to get out of the pool, after onlyafter 2 hours. They say they have treatment at 21:30 and 22:00, this is a scam! Last bus goes at 21:40 and 2235; this is in the middle of nowhere, so sitting outside for an hour is no pleasant feeling. Do daytime! Evening is a rip off!
Tourists left to feel scammed after visiting Therme Spa
They do not have call center. Customer service is rude and unprofessional (says no to everything, no acknowledgement, impolite). The most important thing they are scammers. The price of entrance during summer is calculated as a weekend price (that is okay) but at least they can totally change the price of entrance for summer and put a standart tarrif. The problem is that service which you offer for a certain price should be direct and clear not confusing. And customer service could not explain a situation and just ignored my emails. 1 star is very high mark for you but I do not have any other option unfortunately.
Check the price directly from officials not from site if you do not want to get scammed.
P.S School Holiday affects prices of entrance not only for students and pupils also affects price for adults.
Inflated prices not as advertised
The prices shown on their website aren’t matching the ones at the location !
Be prepared to purchase new shoes for each visit
I usually don’t write bad things about places that I visit but this place was absolutely horrible. The receptionist was extremely rude, asking us to purchase sleepers that we didn’t need. We specially brought slippers from home knowing that we would be using them in the pool. The receptionist kept on insisting that we couldn’t go in because our slippers were dirty from walking the short distance from the parking lot to the entrance. I have never been more humiliated in my life. Suggesting that the shoes I wear are not clean enough is not only bad customer service but utterly offensive.

Be prepared to pay for water at Therme Spa
We took the 10:35 free connection buss from Piata Romana on a Friday morning and decided to spend the day there and leave with the 22:00 buss. While they had two busses in the morning ushering people in, at exactly 21:50 they only had one buss, in which people stampeded in, squeezed in like sardines and left the rest of us stranded in this place that lies further away from the city than the airport. The buss also left before its scheduled time. There you’re left at the whim of jackal taxi drivers asking for exorbitant amounts of money to take you back to the city. I asked the front desk staff about it, they shrugged their shoulders and couldn’t care less. This goes to prove that once you’re in/out and fill the pockets of Therme owners, customer satisfaction is not an issue they care about afterwards.
On top of that:
– All of their produce are overpriced, food is not great and..
– No free water, considering they have over seven saunas which dehydrate you to dangerous heath levels.
– Overcrowded slides
– The Romanian staff is rude and stiff, they run the place like it’s a dictatorship. They like to think they’re running a western Europe type of business, but they come out to be like their communist grandparents. The foreign staff is nice and friendly, but they’re usually not the “enforcers” of rules
Despite heavy security presence, many people complain about theft at Therme
Today we had a bad episode in Therme : our friends had the phones stolen in Palm area, both of them. In the area we stayed, surprise:there is no camera and nobody saw nothing ! The employees were not really involved in helping us find the missing assets.
I was expecting to be a secured place but it seems it is very easy to remain without your personal things in Therme and nobody to care about.
Pay to get in and pay to leave
The people who work there are extremely rude. No patience to explain anything. I had problems leaving, they made me pay 6 reais more because I exceeded my time in ONE minute.. and I was in line to pay for more than 5 minutes. They are very fast for you to enter and very slow for you to leave.
The place is ok, but if you want to be well attended, surely this is not the place.
Waste of time and money
Waste of time and money. I was so excited to go, it was one of my top destinations on the 5 days in Bucharest but was so disappointed with my boyfriend. First we went to Galaxy, it was so packed we were like little ants waiting in line for the rides which were not as fun as they look, the floor was slippery and disgusting with everyone walking barefoot it looked contaminated… Staff was rude, stupid rules that spoil the experience. The only nice thing was the energetic public exercise in the pool (Palm) and the lovely bus driver (which was free). Overall its a pretty to the eye on pictures but would never go again!!!
Security at Therme leaves people feeling unsafe
Horrible experience: 1h queue to get in, 30 mins to get out; very expensive for they offer; super rude security people looking like they just got out of jail; dirty in some areas and especially around the pool where people leave their glasses; lots of dodgy people everywhere making the whole experience unsafe. I really wouldn’t recommend going there to anyone.
Therme Spas are dirty and poorly maintained
The place is getting dirtier with each passing day. No in-depth maintainance activities can be seen – the paint is peeling off, mold can be seen between tiles in the pool.
Also, they did not allow my child to go on the slides with swimming glasses – although they could not provide any reasonable explanation for this interdiction. The child has severe myopia and the swimming glasses had correction lenses. The slides were the straight ones, nothing remotely dangerous..
Therme is overcrowded and unsafe
Terrible place, crowded, badly organized, rude stuff. We left after 10 minutes, bc there were no spot to sit. Crowded beyond normal, very unsafe place.
Therme staff seem to impose a strict dress code
As a man if you come with your swimming shorts on you can not enter, as a women if you have swimming wear on you and a dress on top no problem; the targets on selling items here are mistachen with hygienic values. Overall location can be nice but staff needs to be more friendly.
You may be at fault for Therme issues
My locker had a problem and they charged me for their mistake!!!!
People are reminded to read the Terms and Conditions
Not worth the one star. Rude staff. Visited the place to see some friends for about 30 minutes. We were sent back after we paid because we are not allowed with long pants. There is no rules displayed or signs telling you that. We only wanted to have a drink with our friends not using the pools even if we did pay for them. Also that is a very stupid rule if every staff member is wearing jeans and long pants. I mentioned that I want a refund because I paid for the 2 minutes of entering and exiting, staff said that I should read the terms and agreements on their website, not willing to help or give 1 minute of their time to send me on the right page when I asked NICELY where I can find those terms so I will be prepared for another time.
